Ditto. A great entry in the series, even though it appears to be the last.

[Rumours of visual quality re the download appear to be true, but not
deal-killer.]

It's the final episode that 10x20 ought to have been, but that final regular
episode was instead just a really good entry, very interesting, but failing
to resolve all the loose ends.

A show that manages 10 years, with the franchise itself continuing on, has
little excuse not to wrap up the storylines on its final episode, and ARK OF
TRUTH was the real-deal final ep. And It Was Good.

I liked it plenty. Super-effects, good continuity with good story, the cast
all turning in fine performances, and plenty of action, some even
unpredictable.

Bye SG-1, for real this time, we knew ye well!

Also: The real reason, I predict, that SGA has had a marginal fourth year -
there are only so many resources to go around, and now I see where they were
being spent!

But it isn't the end, because we still have Continuum left for the SG-1
team, at the very least, and if these two do well, don't doubt there will be
more. So the bloated bitch has yet to bellow for SG-1.

Yes, yes. The Krossposting Kweer King, thats me. You see, it is getting
more and more difficult to get people to respond, so one has to cast a
wider and wider net to find people who arent "One with the Roger."

I suspect that these stupid people are killfiling ME, instead of the 30

the version I had wouldn't play well on Windows Media Player, on my
desktop. It's only a Radeon 7200 with probably 128mb of vram (or less)
but, it played flawlessly in Windows Media Player on the laptop (nVidia
something... much better video and 256m of ram)

It's not. There are temporary fx in it, with subtitles telling you what
will happen in the final. And a long bit of scenery obviously intended
for credits that aren't there yet.

Indeed, the battle at the end is very non-SFXish.

I watched it with Quicktime, and had very little problems. There are still
FX that need to be added, but at least I got to see the basic story.

With QT it was great.

The version I downloaded seemed to be complete apart from the end titles.
The only text I saw come up on screen was the bit with Adria where some text
comes up saying something like "from fire" or something. I wasn't quite sure
why that was there. But all the special effects were present.

Having watched it again, I'd say it was better than I thought first time
around, but still a floored storyline with some serious holes in the plot,
whcih seems ot be typical of the sloppy writing of Season 9&10 in
particular.

Nope. That was a line explaining that special effect needed to be
finished. And a lot of the stuff was clearly temp effects. I sure hope
all those shots of replicators weren't finished! And did you have any
beginning titles?

No, no beginning titles (apart from the Cat). Just out of interest anyone
know where they filmed the mountain scenes?

LOL, I did find it rather amusing, seeing people complain about the quality
of the file and the movie; surely it must have been obvious to everyone that
this is not a finished product? As bad as the writing can get, the show's
special effects have always been very good (money permitting, of course) and
no way they would release this into the wild.

Happy New Year!

Eva, I think a lot of people were commenting about the quality due to the
file size. The version I downloaded was the 1.2 gig version and the physical
quality was lower than the much smaller file size Atlantis episodes (even
allowing for the fact the film is a lot longer). There is a 4 gig version
out there, so I'd have expected that to be quite good in quality terms for
such a large file size.

At the beginning, I'd downloaded both files and burned them. Picture-wise,
I didn't think the larger file was much better than the smaller one but at
least it was in sync. I've seen other, smaller, re-encodes since then but I
wasn't curious enough to download them to compare; their source seems to be
the screener which I already have, anyway. I would compare the quality of
the 4 Gig file I have to VHS; the picture is fuzzy and the colours are dull.
Given how long it's been, I am surprised that the screener was unfinished -
unless that *was* the idea because TPTB knew it would get leaked.

LOL, that's exactly what I was thinking! Another homage, I am sure .... <g>

It's probably filmed in British Columbia but that's my guess. They did film
scenery like that for an SG-1 episode although I cannot think which one it
was right now.

Can I just mention music here? I can see what they were trying to do but,
at places, it seemed too overblown and inappropriate (especially during
certain scenes with Teal'c). Maybe I am just having a problem accepting
this as a movie after watching ten seasons of TV episodes.

From what I've read, they're less than happy to have had this version
leaked. Reason being that it might hurt the sales of the DVDs. They actually
sent the wrong version by error and it was leaked before they had a chance
to send the final one.

Happy new year too !

How can you "expect" something, from an unfinished product?

I burnt the 1.2 gig to DVd and watched it on a 32" widescreen TV. The sound
seemed OK (in sync) and the picture quality was OK, not brilliant. As
mentioned before, the heads are cut off in one or two scenes, but it was
actually quite watchable.

As for the filming Eva, was it the episode where Carter and Jack get sent ot
the South Pole when they gate malfunctions?

Very few creators will be happy about their audiences seeing an unfinished
product, so I am not surprised. LOL, I think they were lucky here then; at
least it wasn't the final product that had leaked!

That said, I think that they have to accept it as given that once there is a
disc out there somewhere, it will find its way on the Internet.

Wow, I can't quite imagine the file on a 32" screen, I would have thought
that the quality would be appalling.

No, that's not the one I am thinking of, that was "Solitudes". It's really
