Title: Christmas Shopping
Author: Ster Julie
Rating [G]
Codes: Uhura, Rand, Chapel
Part 1/1
Summary: The girls go shopping.
--ooOoo--
"What is going on with these decorations this year?" Janice Rand
complained. "Just look at these displays!"
"The stores seem to be competing for the Garish and Gaudy trophy this
year," Christine Chapel concurred
Nyota Uhura wrinkled her nose at the sight of an aluminum tree bathed
in blue lights, decorated with blue glass balls and draped with blue
tinsel strands. The mellow baritone of Elvis Presley's "Blue
Christmas" completed the display.
Next they passed a store selling only the rarest and most avant-garde
liquors. A rather tipsy employee was offering timble-full tastes of a
verdant potent potable.
"What is it?" Janice asked.
The employee look at it, sniffed it, then threw it back into his own
mouth before slurring, "Beats me."
The ladies shook their heads and moved to the next store.
"Oooh," Christine breathed as she pressed her hands against the window
to get a better look. "I like a gold Christmas the best," she
declared, "especially when it's wrapped around diamonds, pearls,
sapphires--just about anything."
"You mean, especially when it's wrapped around you," Uhura corrected.
"Or you," Christine amended as she looked at the communications
officer, "or you," she said as she included the yeoman.
Janice pursed her lips as she took a good look at the nurse. "Chris,
I do think you need to get with the program," she said as she took in
the blue uniform. Janice took one of Christine's arms in her own and
dragged her to the final store, a dress shop to end all dress shops,
if all you were looking for was a red dress.
"What is it with these stores?" Uhura repeated as Janice held a red
velvet cocktail dress up to Christine's body.
"I can't wear red," Christine demurred.
"Nonsense," Janice chided. "You look good in red!"
