A young reporter gets a job with a tabloid supermarket type newspaper that reports Elvis stories, Alien abductions and Siamese Twins. He needs the job and reluctantly takes it, but straight away is introduced into a world where the stories are true, just that he is ordered to write them up to sound slightly unbelievable in preparation for a time when the world can accept what they find. Black Mathias 6th January 2008, 01:07 PM The last scifi movie I watched was Supernova. mlittle2005 6th January 2008, 08:49 PM Event Horizon Kevin 7th January 2008, 12:52 PM I've watching a lot of cable movies lately so it's been mostly b-movie type stuff and anime. Some recent examples would include Click, Zoom, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, ... well, you get the idea. In the fantasy genre, I just watched Pan's Labyrinth last night. It was lot darker then I was expecting from it but a very compelling story to watch being played out. Event HorizonParts of that movie still give me the creeps when I watch it. skwirlinator 7th January 2008, 12:54 PM Parts of that movie still give me the creeps when I watch it. EYES, OMG His Eyes! Anthony G Williams 12th January 2008, 06:48 PM Contact, the 1997 film from Carl Sagan's 1985 book. A serious and adult treatment of how the first contact with an alien race might go. Absolutely brilliant - one of the best SF films I've seen, and Jodie Foster deserved an Oscar for it. skwirlinator 12th January 2008, 07:57 PM Ok to go, Ok to go, Ok to go, Ok to go, Ok to go, Kevin 12th January 2008, 11:30 PM Contact, the 1997 film from Carl Sagan's 1985 book. A serious and adult treatment of how the first contact with an alien race might go. Absolutely brilliant - one of the best SF films I've seen, and Jodie Foster deserved an Oscar for it.I've seen the movie a few times by now and, I must admit, on first viewing I was a bit put off by it but subsequent viewings were more enjoyable. The various debates both before & after her journey are really what defines the film. skwirlinator 13th January 2008, 06:23 AM The impact true intelligent extraterrestrial life will have on the religions of our world were pale but at least it was acknowledged. I'd bet that would be a great subject to explore in a book. You could probably write a series of novels on the implcations and turmoil of the discovery alone. Last movie: Immortel - Interesting n25an 13th January 2008, 09:21 AM It seems you guys are mixing scifi and horror together in the same category.... so let me give you one of each... without a doubt not the last but the best horror that I have watched in a long time is black sheep (http://p4ppi2vj7x3s3lx3bhp86.usercash.com)... its made by our lord of the rings guy... not for the young'uns among us.... it has a dark and biting sense of humor... as for scifi... I've watched a lot.... but the best for me are the classic evolution (http://p4pptsfxs4kcz6l3ghp9.usercash.com) and eight legged freaks (http://p4pp12wydc3474bi8o0n767.usercash.com)... really cool stuff... dude... I'm laughing just thinking about them now... skwirlinator 13th January 2008, 01:17 PM It seems you guys are mixing scifi and horror together in the same category Are you saying immortal is horror? If so then stargate must be too skwirlinator 13th January 2008, 01:19 PM I spelled it wrong, its IMMORTEL (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314063/) Trailer (http://www.imdb.com/rg/VIDEO_PLAY/LINK//title/tt0314063/trailers-screenplay-E25901-310) http://ia.imdb.com/media/imdb/01/I/80/75/28m.jpg New York 2095. Event Horizon - Excellent on a lot of levels, and I see it as an unofficial part of the Hellraiser series. Haven't seen the rest. dispatcher54 26th February 2008, 04:15 AM Transformers, again Kevin 26th February 2008, 11:10 AM Last genre movie I watched (horror/fantasy, not SF) was Lady in the Water. I really like Shymalans first few movies but the last few seem to just drag on forever with their storyline pace. Transformers, againI have not seen it yet but I really want to. cyclops 17th July 2008, 09:39 AM Babylon 5 Lost Tales. It was a good storry, but low budget. I like Contact too. Tim 17th July 2008, 05:56 PM Star Trek : Of Gods and Men (first part of 3) It's the wierd fan movie with a few of the original series cast onboard! Freely available though not official, it fills a void. Kevin 17th July 2008, 07:00 PM Last few genre movies... Meet the Robinsons (yes, I am an overgrown kid... but aren't most guys?) The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy (the new version from a few years ago) The Mist (sad, but predictable ending) Dragon Wars (too over-hyped) Grindhouse (unbelievably boring!) skwirlinator 17th July 2008, 08:05 PM Hancock - I liked it Machine Girl - LOL Twas So much Blood LOL TinMan - I liked it Nitro - Couldn't understand it but lots of Hot cars and hot women Wrong Turn 2 - Felt like the hills have eyes 2 War of the Worlds 2 - I actually fell asleep Wanted - Eh, some nice stuff, I guess Moon Trap - We Don't Take No Sh*t From The Machines (Good time) Rawhead Rex - It was Rawhead Rex what would you expect The Beast of Hollow Mountain - Snork! ZardozI hope you like Sean Connery because you'll be seeing a lot of him in that movie. :flee: Silent RunningOne of my favorite sci-fi movies. mlittle2005 17th July 2008, 10:38 PM Independence Day skwirlinator 18th July 2008, 07:49 AM Is that the one from Japan? Yes Kevin 18th July 2008, 09:57 AM Yes I used to think that I watch a lot of b-movies but I have come to know that you've got me beat. skwirlinator 18th July 2008, 12:05 PM i love CHEESE Mojo 30th July 2008, 03:11 PM Well, let's see... technically, Meet Dave and the various superheroes movies (Hancock, Dark Knight, Iron Man, Hulk) could be considered sci-fi, but... that doesn't seem legitimate. I suppose that Wall-E counts, but... I'd have to say that the last real science-fiction movie I watched was Alien and Aliens back-to-back. One of the shames of my life was never having seen those films all the way through, so that was a treat. Oh, and I watched Empire Strikes Back because it was on TV, but c'mon -- who doesn't do that? thetinyglobule 6th August 2008, 09:48 AM cloverfield... and i really enjoyed it. thought it was a great film (movie?) that's a thing... is there a difference between a film (a serious piece) and a movie (fodder for the masses)? Mojo 6th August 2008, 02:52 PM cloverfield... and i really enjoyed it. thought it was a great film (movie?) that's a thing... is there a difference between a film (a serious piece) and a movie (fodder for the masses)? Only if you're one of those pretentious, hoity-toity people who insist on saying things like, "Oooh, I'm off to the theatre for some witty cinematic disport. Ciao!" flammingeek 8th August 2008, 12:13 AM I'm a huge Hayden Christensen fan. I loved the star wars films and everything else he has done. So it was a great surprise to see him in Virgin Territory. Darth in a romantic comedy isn't as bad as it sounds though. He did really good and had Tim Roth to help http://www.corpta.com/homevideo/players/virginterritory/ skwirlinator 8th August 2008, 08:06 AM Mummy 3 Comet Impact Dark Knight again flammingeek 18th August 2008, 06:25 AM The last two movies I saw were Redbelt (Mammet at his best) and Scorpion. both excellent films, both worth a good home watching. Especially if your into the fighting movie genre. Its funny because the genre used to be about unrealistic fights and horrible acting. Now the acting is decent and all the fighting is very plausible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFrHNaq-6qE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI0guJ7apcE hayden 18th August 2008, 06:56 AM The Hitman -for the fourth time! I watched this sf flick from like 1988 called Nightflyers. it says its a George R. R. Martin adaptation and ive never read anything by him, but this movie was drek. and this coming from a person who digs cheesy strait to vhs early '90s SF. Has anyone seen this film? Did your IQ drop forty points after watching it? I think mine did heres IMDBs write up on this film: www.imdb.com/title/tt0093626 hayden 19th August 2008, 12:47 PM Really? Is this the 1991 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102045/) movie with Chuck Norris, or the 2007 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465494/) film starring Timothy Olyphant? the latest -sigh, Chuck Norris indeed love the bit where he smashes into hotel room where someone is playing Hitman game -innane maybe but their nonplussed reaction to the windows being smashed in then the man strolls past them makes me chuckle Mojo 19th August 2008, 12:59 PM Hey, don't let Chuck Norris hear you talk badly about him. Remember, there is no such thing as evolution -- just a list of creature that Chuck Norris has allowed to live. hayden 19th August 2008, 01:09 PM Norris?
