View Full Version : OT: Jericho Returns Tuesday
Ryan P. 02-10-2008, 07:26 PM Amidst all the delays in our regular programming due to the writer's
strike, we at least have ONE show to look forward to! Jericho returns
this Tuesday on CBS with all new episodes...
Hopefully, they will be good enough to get good ratings and land a 3rd
FULL season.

Thankyou for the heads up (I had no idea). I've now set my dvd recorder for
Tuesdays at 10. Hopefully the ratings will be decent (though it's a crappy
time slot).

Aww, nuts! I'd hoped they'd cancelled it. ;-)

Yeah, I ran across it be pure accident. They don't seem to be
promoting it too much!

I hope so. But thankfully they filmed an alternate ending to the final
episode so that in case season 2 is theend there will be closure to the
storyline.

I've seen the first three episodes and enjoyed them. Of course, now I have
to wait longer for the rest of the episodes. :-)

to really get into it though.

I wouldn't say it's one of my favourites but I do like it and I was sorry to
hear that they cancelled it. The three episodes I was talking about are from
Season 2, they were leaked a little while ago. Like The Sarah Connor
Chronicles.

No. But if the ratings aren't good then it will wrap up since they filmed an
alternate ending to wrap it up.

I predict no return. If you look the way the story almost suddenly changes
direction, you can see the end of story of near and sucking.
Last season ends with a bang and cliff hanger.....
Then all of a sudden they skip all that fighting and then everything is
peachy.
The struggle everyone was having during a country wide crisis is what made
the story.
Now it's only the struggle of politics in the story now.
Now it's a matter of finishing up the story line withint the next 6 or 7
episodes then it's goodbye.
Goodbye Jericho..CBS sure know hwo to **** up a good thing.
No wonder the three major networks are loosing viewers so fast.

but pick a show you would rather watch over the other ?
Stargate Atlantis
Jericho
Lost
BSG

Probably Lost or BSG, since they have the most interesting mysteries
to solve.
Atlantis doesn't have a storyline this season. I get bored with
self-contained episodes.
I need to watch another ep or so of Jericho to decide where on the
list to put it!

Well, I watch Lost and SGA, and gave up on BSG when it turned to total
pigcrap, and gave up on Jericho after 1 or 2 eps
so
LOST
several parsecs of distance
SGA
BSG
Jericho

I'd go:
BSG (Deckerd is the fifth cylon)
Jericho (needs less Jake, more Heather)
|
|
|
Stargate Atlantis (I watch, but sometimes it hurts)
Lost (Season 1 rocked, but before season 2, I read an interview with
the producers where they said they didn't know what the numbers meant
and that they would never be explained. I quit then.)

I probably missed something, but why is Torchwood not on this list?
I'd put that first of all of these.
Then: SGA, Jericho, Lost and BSG absolutely dead last. *blech*
Eva, remember the conversation about Torchwood and all the kissing?
The US is finally getting all the 'good' episodes *grin*

LOL, yeah, that is the one that came to mind when I made my comment
above. I can't decide if the actor is just that good (the one who
plays Jack) or _really_ into the lifestyle. During commercial breaks
(how annoying! We watch british shows on pbs without commercials but
BBCamerica puts on commercials!!! :P) they put on these little
clips that are interviews of the actors or writers or whomever and
when they talked to 'gwen' about her kiss she said the two of them
just planned in advance 'I'm pretending I'm kissing [some guy]'.
But I haven't heard a clip about what 'jack' pretends... or doesn't
pretend. *grin*

John Barrowman? Happily "partnered" - he and his Civil Partner tied

I've been away from newsgroups for a while... New interests elsewhere, you know... ;) Not
to mention annoying ISP.
No idea how many episodes of House this season - 12 so far, that's all I have seen.

I would never list Torchwood anywhere on a favorites list. If it were
a science fiction show with a bit of sex thrown it, it'd be different.
But its a sex show with a bit of science fiction thrown in.
I never like Lexx, either. :)

Well, they didn't let DT keep his, so why should JB get preferential
treatment? <g> I am OK with Jack's American accent because it doesn't
contradict his character. He's been all over the place *and* all over time,
so he can have any accent he likes. James Marsters is another matter; he'd
been Spike for so long that any other accent, even his own, takes time to
get used to. Although I think I am doing better now, since I've started
listening to his reading of The Dresden Files.

Yeah, that's all there has been so far. Some shows will be making more

Why not? Eccleston spoke in his Mancunian accent and no one beat a lid. It took me 2-3

That's why I was so disappointed that DT didn't/wasn't allowed to keep his.
Maybe CE couldn't do a 'proper' English accent so they let him be but they
knew DT could, so they made him? <g>

LOL, sounds like Virgin Media and their upgrades from 10MB to 20MB last
year. We will be upgraded from 4MB to 10MB soon, not sure I should look
forward to it or dread it, given VM's history.

I hear you! The problem is these days, where do you go? They all seem to be
the same. Now VM will be spying on their customers' browsing as well so that
they can bombard us with targeted adverts; once two or three ISPs get away
with it, everybody will be doing it so moving somewhere else becomes
pointless.

One visual showed lots of nuclear explosions all over the U.S., yet at least
some computers were still functioning. How did those computers survive the

If you've seen John Barrowman on anything where he doesn't have to act,
you'll find that he's not actually acting at all. Captain Jack is him.

Fair cop, but I think you might have enjoyed S3 of Lexx more than the
others. It has the lowest gratuitous nudity level and the best arc plot.
Also, the final ep of S4 was a great sendoff.
Anyone who doesn't at least like the Time Prophet, though, deserves a slow
painful death.

Not being an expert on nuclear explosions, I would have to think that
only microchips within a certain radius would be knocked out by an EMP.
I also seem to recall that in order to affect a large area, a large
nuclear detonation needs to take place at a high altitude.
Google is my friend! It looks like a ground detonation can produce an
EMP that has a radius up to 10 miles... depending on the yield. Still
scary stuff, but hardly something that will ruin all computers in the
nation. :)

Of course not. You may lose one to three organs, however.
In a nutshell, the Time Prophet is best summed up by her most famous quote:
"Time begins, and then time ends, and then time begins once again. I have
been granted the power to see into the cycles of past time ... not very
*clearly*, mind you..."
Honestly, there's a hell of a lot of hilariously cynical humour in Lexx if
you keep your eyes open and look past the nuddy wimmin. Take Giggerota's
charge sheet, for example. She's killed and eaten her husband and walks
around in a suit made out of his skin, and she's charged with "failure to
perform her wifely duties". (Although my favourite charge is one levelled
at Thodin - "six counts of blasphemous self-aggrandisement".)

Very nice! Well, he must be doing something right, given his theatre
career. Has he been in anything else on TV apart from Dr Who/Torchwood? It
would be nice to compare.
Makes me think of RDA in a way; I don't think he'd stretched himself fully
in Stargate (apart from the odd moment) or MacGuyver but having seen him in
a movie where he plays a killer (forgot the name), the potential is
certainly there, even though he may have played Jack as mainly himself.

He has a part in The Producers (from 2005, up for grabs); he plays a blonde Nazi singing
"Springtime for Hitler"; it's very funny, but always in the "musicals line". He has a
lovely voice (I was going to say "wonderful", but I'm biased, I love him! ;)), a pretty

I think Jack O'Neill disappeared behind RDA... I would have liked it the other way round.

Does anyone out there have the first episode from Feb 12th on dvd and able
to provide a copy?? I have the remaining episodes on my dvr but I'm missing
the first one. I have a ton of stuff to trade (bootleg dvd concerts, tv
shows, documentaries, etc). If anyone can help and is interested in hooking
up for a cool trade, please drop me a line at crocketATinfinityDOTnet (or
hit reply and take out the nospam).
Thx much...

I didn't mind that so much; what I did mind was the lack of effort
sometimes - you can be too laid back and then it just becomes laziness.

Yep. Can't find it.

He turned 41 two days ago. Out of our league. ;)

Thank you - I've located it on GE since. Nice little place indeed! :)
GE being the biased thing it is, it was sending me far, very far west - if you see what I
mean.

LOL! No, I haven't, have been quite busy. But I finally watched them
tonight. It's risky going anywhere near YouTube because before you know it
an hour or two have passed and you're still there, clicking on more
links.:-)

Which was rather unfair towards the fans. Then again, as I understand it,
he'd stayed on for much longer than he'd wanted to just so the show could
carry on, so I guess I can understand his attitude a little.

Anybody 03-13-2008, 07:47 PM Don't get too excited. According to Entertainment Tonight just now,
Jericho is one of the shows that is unlikely to continue much longer.

Don't know who you are replying to but it's a shame it probably won't. Then
again, maybe it's good to go out now, instead of slowly descending into
mediocrity.

It was just a general reply to the topic of Jericho returning.

Yeah, I saw. :-( Well, like I said, I didn't think it would happen so it's
not such a big surprise.
(We had snow over Easter; not much but more than over the whole flipping
winter. And although that wasn't very surprising either, it *was* very
disappointing. Of course, I do know whose fault it is... ;-) )

Al Gore's? It's been too long going on here. At least I was not here in
January. And they're still saying 6 more weeks.

Not much? You're lucky... we had 14 inches here in Milwaukee!

Good. The only reason they brought Jericho back was because it was so ****,
axing it once didn't suffice.

I admit it can get old for some people having snow on a regular basis
(although it never did for me), but when you get one snowfall a year, with
just a few centimetres of the stuff, it's not enough for me. :-)

LOL!!! Nice one. I was blaming you, of course, but he will do. <g>

Well, you know where to send it if you don't want it! It's a pity we can't
control the weather very well yet; then again, it's probably a good thing we
can't because when we can, it will only be misused.

Oh, right. :-)

It seems it might be futile at this point. Any continuation will probably be
in the hands of fan fiction writers now.

Move to Aviemore then. But they're always complaining they don't get
