So far, a total of nine reviews: one bad, a couple of middling and the rest fairly good. Could be worse, especially since I published the book myself, as first written (I edit as I go along) without any editorial or other critical input, and it's being reviewed by some people who normally tackle professionally published and edited novels. It might be worth persevering with writing after all…

Indeed not. That's my main comfort when I get a bad review: that there probably hasn't been an author in history who hasn't had some bad reviews.

Of course, if they were mostly bad I'd have to have a rethink...

Listen to the fans, not the reviewers.
