Another winner. I especially loved the stuff between Monk and Dwight.

But, jeezsus, someone please shoot the lottery guy. I never want to
see him again. Ever. (Where was Bitty that week?)

The last two episodes were especially good. Much better than most of this
season as been.

The lottery winner guy is SO ANNOYING. This show only has room for one
annoying guy (Monk).

I missed Sharona. I think the episode would have been much improved with
her instead of the lotto guy.

Perhaps she could've left Benjy behind for Monk to babysit (yeah, not
likely, but still...) They worked really good together in Mr. Monk Goes on
Vacation (or whatever that great first season episode was called).

I'll add my $.02 worth to increase the NG traffic by one. :-)

I agree 100% about the show only havng room for one eccentric. I have
felt that way for quite some time. Every time they have an episode with
another screwball, it almost makes it unwatchable for me.

Actually, one exception to that... in the episode where we met Monk's
brother - I liked that. But part of that was because it went along to
develop more background on Monk. That was a good ep.

I agree. Monk's brother is an exception to what should be the rule.

I never want to see the lottery winner again, unless he's playing a
corpse.

I think most would agree with you. In fact, I'd venture to say that he
was one of the moet popular guest stars that have been on the show.

I didn't think of him as eccentric though. A little odd, no question,
but not particularly eccentric. His fear of going outside the house is
a well known phobia, not an eccentricity. Saving old newspapers, not
especially eccentric in my book. Outside of those traits, he seemed to
be pretty normal.

My definition of eccentric, in this context, is characters who are way
over the top. The two at the top of the list IMHO are the upstairs
goofball and the black substitute nurse (although if they would tone
her down about 50%, I think I could like her character).

The short version: We all agree. :-)

The show has to exceed on three levels to be a success: (1) Monk must
be interesting, deductive, and true to his character, (2) The
supporting cast must be given a chance to support, (3) The mystery has
to be worthy of Monk. We've been missing at least one of these
elements lately.

Perhaps she was already exiting the show by the time this episode was
filmed and without time to find a replacement they opted for his
upstairs neighbor. I don't mind him in low doses, but it'll be hard
to recreate the chemistry that Sharona and Adrian had.

Cheers, Harry
