All I can say, after reading the posts since last Friday's episode, I hope
that the powers to be, get the message and realize that they are sending
this series down the tubes. I love Shaloub, I really do. I think he is a
great actor, (yes, I said great)... He plays any kind of a part with ease,
but "they" are sending his character into someone so annoying that I want to
reach for the remote to ease the pain of his OCD. They don't know where to
draw the line and it is so counterproductive.... As other fans have already
stated, in the beginning, it was bearable and funny. Now, it is to the
extent that he is commitable.... However, that's just how I see it. I hope
that "they" see the light and ease up on his condition and go back to making
a mystery series out of it before it all jumps the shark.

Hi guys.
Well, you know, unfortunately, posting to a Usenet group is not the way to
get heard by the writers. I've only seen the first two episodes with
Natalie (my wife loves/loved the show but works Friday nights, so I tape it
at we watch it during the week), but I totally agree with most of the
criticisms here.
Has anybody considered a letter-writing campaign? A petition? Anybody know
what might be going on behind the scenes (new writers, etc.)?
I agree that Sharona was a great loss, but I don't think Natalie is
necessarily the problem. The writers seem to have changed *all* the
characters and totally ruined the show's dynamic. Monk no longer seems like
a detective trying to win his way back on the force (and solve his wife's
murder)... he seems to have been transformed into an idiot savante that just
happens to stumble across the answers to these mysteries that he just
happens to stumble across... (unwillingly, no less).
And Disher... come on... my wife and I love the comic relief that he used to
provide, but back before "the switch", his ineptitude stemmed more from
haste, and jumping to the wrong conclusions. Now he's just a buffoon.
And calm down with Trudy already. She's a f**king ghost! She was a better
character when we saw less of her. The whole act with Monk in the casket,
talking to Trudy was embarrassing. Hell, if they keep up that ****, why
bother solving her murder? It didn't seem to affect their relationship any.
And so on... and so forth.
Later,
Rob
