View Full Version : Is Tony Shalhoub like Monk?
Richard Fangnail 08-08-2005, 12:21 PM I've seen interviews where Tony is talking so quietly, even more
quietly than Monk. In his small appearances in films, he seems like an
average guy. In Barton Fink he played a jerk.

In a recent late-night interview, Tony did say he'd been acquiring some
of the minor characteristics of Monk, along the lines of
fastidiousness.

See "Big Night," if you haven't. Damn, what a great film.

Absolutely right. It's a great film, but few seem to have picked up on
it. A shame.

extex 08-08-2005, 05:40 PM He is also really good in The Man Who Wasn't there and he is getting
rave reviews in the Great New Wonderful.
I have seen him a few times in person and while he does have some Monk
mannerisms he is very soft spoken and very very funny. He is also super
nice to fans. He'll take pictures and sign stuff.

What a great film and piece of acting all way around! I also
agree Big Night is well worth seeking out--great movie!

Wonderful movie with a great cast. Shaloub, Tucci and Holm were superb. Minnie
Driver was no slouch either. Nex

He was very endearing in that role.
That whole movie was unexpectedly good.

It was better than I dared hoped it would be. I loved it.
I realize that they (probably) couldn't have gotten the real Star Trek
actors to do a movie like that, without having to make up a show ...
but wouldn't it have been fun?

Sadly it may be the best Star Trek movie ever made.
Richard Fangnail 08-09-2005, 01:44 PM I was disappointed in Big Night. It had two directors which is a
trouble sign. Two NEW directors whose experience is more as actors.
Man Who Wasn't was also a letdown since I had liked the Coen Brothers.
Rosie O'Donnell 08-17-2005, 01:37 AM I thought he was great in Life, Or Something Like It.

Ah. A plasma TV and an HD feed, that's the ticket.
