A Few More Details Emerge On Joss Whedon's New Eliza Dushku Sci-Fi Fox
Series DOLLHOUSE!!
I am - Hercules!!

Fox ordered seven episodes of Joss Whedon's new sci-fi series
"Dollhouse" back just before the writers' strike; the plan as I now
understand it is to shoot the first episode -- and only the first
episode -- in May, just prior to the following month's Screen Actors
Guild contract deadline.

What happens next depends on how quickly SAG and the Association of
Motion Picture and Television Producers hammer out a contract.

The series depicts a group of blank-slate secret agents who get
different personalities, abilities and memories installed in her
brains for each mission; all these attributes are also wiped away at
mission's end. The focus of "Dollhouse" is an operative named
"Echo" (Eliza Dushku), whose memories somehow don't get wiped away
quite as thoroughly as those of her colleagues.

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello now has descriptions of some of the
"Dollhouse" supporting characters (though I'm not entirely certain if
the language is his or that of a casting exec):

ADELLE DEWITT
The fortyish iceberg who runs the Dollhouse where the human Etch-a-
Sketches reside

PAUL BALLARD
The thirtysomething G-man who is slated to become an offbeat love
interest for Dushku's "impressionable" Echo

BOYD LANGTON
Echo's handler and father figure

TOPHER BRINK
The technogeek who enjoys his job as a Doll programmer maybe a
little too much

SIERRA
The knockout Doll who is as close to a friend as Echo has

VICTOR
The distractingly handsome Doll who is called upon to play
everyone from Errol Flynn to Robert DeNiro

NOVEMBER
The Tracy Turnblad of the Dolls

DR. CLAIRE SANDERS
The beautiful older woman with whom Topher is smitten

Note that all the blank-slate operatives have Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
international radiotelephony spelling alphabet kinda names. (Can't
wait to see who they cast for agents Zulu and Hotel!)

At least they should change it enough not to be sued by the creators of

It's great to see Joss and Eliza working together again. Faith was one
of the best things about Buffy.

It'll then be made into a movie that will bomb at the box office...but

If that's a Firefly/Serenity reference it certainly wasn't the best
ever, but it was damned entertaining.

You forgot to add these two important words to the end of your
sentence: "TO ME".

It was "damned entertaining" TO YOU. Now, I never saw it, but
if it was 3,000,000,000 times better than the TV show, it would still
be one of the most boring movies in history...TO ME.

I tried a couple times, but I could never make it more than 10 minutes
into a "Fireflop" episode without falling asleep. Ponderous, man,
just ponderous...

That's why I don't hold out much hope for this new show starring
the lovely and talented Eliza D. After wasting Fox's time, money
and airwaves with his last exercise in ennui-don, and getting his ***
fired for grinding down the "Wonder Woman" movie rights franchise
to a useless mire of half-assed story ideas, no finished scripts,
and casting indecision, I can only reasonably expect more of
the same from "Josh".

But TO YOU, it might be a "damned entertaining" TV show...to
each his own, but I'm with the former Fox executives and the viewing
public on his last few "efforts"...

I doubt there's anyone reading this that doesn't understand that these
are opinions being profferd.

Try watching the movie and see if you don't see the series in a
different light. If Sci-fi channel had any brains they'd get the show
back in production.

If you're aligning yourself with Fox exec.'s on anything to do with
programming you've just condemned yourself worse than I ever could.

Yes, but I don't think I like this series concept.

It might work, but I'd say the odds are against it.

Ian (It sound kind of "Nikita" to me, and that was already done.

"House" may say hi, but "Prison Break" and every other piece of crap

Who the hell is "Josh?"

It seems to me you have some sort of issue with Mr. Whedon. Pray tell,
why are you posting in all the newsgroups dedicated to his shows?

Nikita had her brain programmed in that manner?
I must have missed a couple of episodes.

Where else would I post something about "Joss-ua" Whedon,
rec.arts.needlework? Momma drop you on your head much?
(Oh, that's right, aren't you the guy who works in a copy shop?
Never mind...nuf sed.)

In any event, I just responded to a post in "alt.tv.buffy-v-slayer"
with my opinion of some of his post-"Buffy" "accomplishments",
and didn't even notice that it was going to the groups that you
(Mr. Kinko's!) say are "dedicated to his shows", such as
alt.pro-wrestling.wwf and rec.sport.pro-wrestling (man, you must
really be huffing that toner, dude!). In any event, many of the
other posters in this thread have expressed skepticism about
the quality of this new show, but of course that's what DISCUSSION
groups are all about (except to copy-shop workers, apparently).

Any sorry if I "disturbed" you, you may now return to your
regularly-scheduled duties pressing the green button and
adding paper...
