FYI, we've been discussing the remastering at length on the NG
alt.tv.star-trek.TOS

I took the liberty of cross-posting your post there.

The time reversal ending was definitely grafted on as a hook for
subsequent episodes that would employ time warping as a way to travel
back in time deliberately. Most notably "Assignment: Earth," which
itself was actually a proposed crossover pilot film for a different
unsold TV series.

One in particular, "Tomorrow is Yesterday," which reportedly
was originally to be part 2 of a "to be continued."

"Naked Time" was originally conceived as Part 1 of a story that
concluded with the episode which became "Tomorrow is Yesterday".

Yes. The script actually says "part 2"

The original syndicated episode had no Paramount logo at all since this
episode was produced before Paramount bought Desilu. Actually, the entire
first season had no copyright notice at all. It wasn't until (at least) the
1980's when Paramount starting sticking their logo on the early episodes.

Did not notice that. Were you watching a broadcast or the discs?

It was done to clarify what the chronometer was displaying, and to
replace a cheap looking dial with labels that were obvious stick on to
something that looked a little better.

I haven't bought discs. It's repeated on a television station that airs
numerous '60's and '70's synidcated shows.

I don't recall having trouble reading it.

It looked like an alarm clock to me, with 7 lights to form parts of the
digits. Sure didn't look futuristic. Anyway, it was briefly distracting.
