Of course! I've finally figured out why!

I was thinking about doing a video mashup of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA on the way
home from work when the radio show host on starting playing clips about past
public figures embroiled in sex scandals and happened to play a clip of
Jimmy Swaggart, and it finally clicked: WHY don't the cylons talk about the
Final Five models:

THE FINAL FIVE MODELS OF CYLONS ... ARE TRAITORS!

They betrayed the cylons, turned their back on their cylon brethren and
sisthren. And given the cylons religious nature, it makes sense. In various
religions when you have some who turn against the cause, the members of
religion resort the ultimate punishment (short of death): excommunication,
disfellowshipping, shunning, blacklisting, blackball, ostracism, disbarment,
declared persona non grata (okay that last one is a more governmental deal,
but the cylons have their own government ....). The one thing that can be
worse than a religion's Enemy is a Judas.

Besides, look at all the religious imagery beating us over the head with
this season's marketing campaign. It totally makes sense.

Under this theory, because she doesn't know that he's a traitor.

It's established that the original Cylons don't know who the final 5
are. Now, yeah, they may know they are traitors even if they don't know
who they are, but really nothing of substances is established about
them. Anything can happen.

Even when one is shunned there can still be some compassion shown. The whole
parable about the Good Samaritan is based on it. Samaritans and Jews were
both descended from Israel. The 12 tribes of Israel split into a 2-tribe
kingdom of Judah (from which the Jews were descended) and the 10-tribe
kingdom of Israel (from which the Samaritans were descended). There was
considerable friction between the two kingdoms and the two groups of
people--much like North and South in America following the Civil War or
Northern and Southern Ireland, Northern Chicagoan Cubs fans and Southern
Chicagoan Sox fans.

However even so, one can still have a baseline level of compassion. There
were even some Bears fans who sympathezied with grieving Packer fans
following Brett Fahrve's retirement (after getting swept by the Bears in
every game played in the past two seasons).

Apparently Three had some modicum of compassion for Tigh despite his
betrayal of cylonality, much like there are various rules of war for how one
treats prisoners of war.

I think it is established that they just don't know who they are and
that they are also much more ancient than the 7 other Cylons. The 5
may have been created by men thousands of years ago, and they helped
created the 7 new ones, because "all of this has happened before, all
of this will happen again".

Not likely. They are thousands of years old. Remember seeing them in
the Kobol opera house, and at the Temple of Five? The 7 Cylons think
they are only about 40 years old.

And they say that none of them have ever _seen_ the final 5. Three goes
nuts trying to find out what they look like. This does not match the
traitor idea.

Traitors? That's plausible. But I think making them traitors will be
hard to tie together. I think you're close but not quite traitors.
Perhaps they're viewed as the working of the Devil? We hear about God
being spoken but never hear about the Devil.

I don't know why everyone is always so fixated on "Subversive Three"
apologizing to Tigh when the series never showed she had any direct
connection to his torture or putting his eye out.

Contrast that to her beating the crap out of Anders and nearly blowing
his head off TWICE in the collapsed parking garage on Caprica. I
really think he's the one she's apologizing to since she personally
assaulted and almost killed him.

I'm not sure Anders had been picked at that point. Tigh and Tyrol,
probably.

However, that's all beside the point. From a dramatic standpoint,
I think it's most likley, though not certain, that she was apologizing
to the hidden #1.
