View Full Version : Peter's First Power

Okay. Having a bit of fun again, but had no luck in finding Peter's
first absorbed power since the group started.

So, I'm thinking there's two candidates-- Isaac's premonition ability
or Nathan's flying ability. Since a premonition gave him the idea to
try to fly, I think that it must precede flight, although he's always
kind of been around Nathan.

I thought it was clear that the old man that he was looking over had
his own ability to see the future in dreams. That was how he was able
to sense that Peter's presence in the first season season finale in
which Peter travelled back and saw him talking to his mother. Isaac's
premonition ability did not involve dreams so he must have gotten it
from somebody else.

I think you just nailed it. I think Peter's adaptive ability started to
develop while he was around Charles Deveaux, and he picked up that ability
to see premonitions in his dreams.

I'm not so sure. The ability to dream prophetically may have just been the
first one to activate because it was involuntary. That doesn't necessarily
mean it was the first one he absorbed.
I would think he would have to have absorbed Nathan's or one of his parents
abilities first, because they would be the first people he was around.

The big problem with the Nathan theory is that he couldn't fly until
Nathan was with him at the point of no return. At this point, Charles
Deveaux sounds like the leading candidate, but someone may come along
to correct all of us.

But Peter's power wasn't even active until the start of season 1, when
everyone else's powers started to "wake up."

Actually, most of the powers of the main characters from season 1
started to "wake up" in roughly April 2006, as depicted in "Six Months Ago".

Yeah, but it seems like all the powers tend to activate in situations where
there is a threat. After all, the first time Nathan flew was before the car
"accident" that crippled his wife. Does that mean he didn't have a power
before that? Offhand, I'd say it's impossible to say which power Peter
absorbed first, only which one he used first.

That's only true if you say they don't have powers until they activate. The
fact that they've never used a power doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't
there. It just means they haven't discovered it yet. Peter could have all
kinds of powers he's unaware of.

Fair enough, especially given the reply above yours... :-P
