Well, this finally came in the other day and could hardly wait to come
home from work and sit down to watch it!

It was well worth the wait, let me tell you! :)

I have to admit though, that there were some scenes that seemed like
they were ripped out of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost
Ark :) But, that's what made this movie so much fun to watch :)

I'm still curious who wrote the program that created the replicators
and what Adra meant when she said "not all of them" (IIRC) in one of
her closing lines?

Greetings, Robert Wolfe

I don't know enough about spoilers in this group so I'll caution
everyone that I mention some things from the movie, but I try to be
vague.

I thought it was ok. It was definitely a season 9 or season 10 quality
movie, as opposed to, say, season 4. It was worth watching and I'm
glad I own it for the collection. But it was very very 'Ori' and I
find the whole Ori arc quite silly. I'm also miffed that Browder got
billing ahead of Tapping. Sheesh!

I, too, am curious about the replicator program. They talked about
it as if it was someone we should know. Now I'm searching my brain
to figure out who it might be.

I'm also wondering about what that ship was made out of to withstand
a blast that large and not have a hole ripped in it!

Tapping needs a new agent. She should be first billed on ATLANTIS too.

Agreed about the Ori. Other than getting to see Morena Bacarin (sigh) I
got bored with them a loooong time ago.

Reply:
You have to remember in Season 10 that SG-1 or the Earth fleets acquired
Asgard weaponry and shields that are far more formidable and have more
capability than any homegrown native technology.
The Asgard bequeathed all their knowledge and technology to them prior
to them annihilating themselves out of existence because they could not
erase all their genetic development mistakes that happened over
millennia.
They have Asgard type "beam weapons" and shields.

She's better on Firefly, imo.

Good point! Even at 13 percent, or whatever the shields were at,
their ship can take quite a bit. And it's not like they were _trying_
to blow a hole in the exterior wall.

That robot chick from many seasons ago made the replicators and
programmed them. The same robot girl that Jack shot and that was given
to the Asgard. The original program was modified by the Ancients to
make the ones in the Pegasus galaxy.

What planet are you living on?
The pegasus replicators have existed for over 10,000 years.
(which is when the original lantians abandoned the pegasus galaxy)

Notice these were ALWAYS designed to take a humanoid form, rather than just
evolve over 1,000,000 years of compressed time into them?

If something is possible, it will be invented eventually. By any
civilisation that has the right building blocks. Edison/swan weren't the
only people working on incandescent lighting, for example. If they hadn't
invented the light bulb, someone else would, probably within a decade.

In many cases more than one person was inventing the same thing at the same
time. The jet engine being an example, the telephone being another.

Exactly. There're dozens of examples of parallel innovation.

Indeed, in fact, that's a better example than the phone.
Philip J Fry's great grandfather, most likely, invented the tv system we're
only just starting to abandon.

Even the Wright Brothers were only just beaten to the aeroplane by a
