OMG, you really like me!
Seriously, folks, I didn't expect a thing this year. I'd like to thank
all of you who left kind comments.
And thanks, Rocky, Whoa Nellie, Stephen, and whoever else worked so
hard on the awards collating and all the behind-the-scenes postings
and stuff that made it possible. I appreciate all of you.
(And thanks, Elfqueen, for your help on Snagel-Paborel. See, you are
TOO a real writer.)

I'm speechless! Thank you to everyone who read my stories and voted
for them. As I'm sure the other authors will agree, it's very
rewarding to know that something you put your heart and soul into is
enjoyed by others.
Congratulations to all the award winners. And to those like me who
love to write. Keep up the good work!

I wrote most of these stories while sitting at my mother's hospital
bed, or, when she went on Palliative Care (like Hospice), at her
bedside at home. Mom is still with us by either a miracle or her
boundless determination (and stubbornness, of which I have received
more than my share!), but I know she won't be here much longer. So,
what I am trying to say in my long-winded reply here is thank you. I
am honored to receive these awards and I accept them in honor of my
mother. I especially dedicate my favorite story of the year, Memory
Wreath.
Peace!

***I would just like to say *thank you* for this honor. I am truly
astonished!
Two years ago, I'd never even heard the word *fanfic.* It was less
than a year ago that I worked up the courage to post my first story.
Despite my advanced years (let's just say I remember watching TOS when
it was being shown "in living color!"), I'd never endeavored to write
anything more ambitious than technical manuals (I'm an engineer by
profession). Finding groups such as this and discovering some small,
hitherto unknown talent has been an unexpected joy that has brought me
endless delight and pleasure. Thank you to everyone who wrote such
kind words about my stories, and a special thank you to those who
worked so hard on these awards.
And congratulations to everyone, participants and winners.

Alan Heah 03-31-2008, 03:30 AM Dear Ster Julie,
I'm sure I join people like us, who have or had loved ones ailing in sickness, in saying you are not alone.
Much as this can be a sad, long time that is yet to find release, it deepens and matures us, bringing out a
best in us.
Later years may find us amazed, wondering how such times can be so enriching for our life onwards.
Stubbornness can also be a brave and positive thing, during long illness, as long as we face every day with
cheer and hope.
I speak personally here, when 2 years ago, our stubborn mother defied her specialist doctors' prognosis by
months.
She finally left, with strength which many could see.
May this year's awards for you again, be as a large, bright candle, a testimony to the strong spirit of real
mother and daughter!

Alan Heah 03-31-2008, 03:35 AM Dear all winners,
Just like to say that your happiness at being appreciated, also brightens up the days for us readers!
Makes me feel, for sure, that my humble life has been worth it too.
I suspect the very hardworking ASC staff also feel the same way.

congrats to Rocky and Ronnie, as well as the winners in all the other
categories. well done, all of you!
and wow....i'm quite honored by this! Kumita's Touch was my plunge
back into the Voyager fandom after a long break. so i'm doubly
honored in that respect. :) very many thanks to everyone who
commented the first time around and also voted with kind words.
thanks x infinity go to my beta-readers, especially my cybersis
CoriMariee, who dragged my muse out of her self-dug ruts a couple of
times, which pulled some key parts in this tale together. and of
course to the staff at the SPA--those named in the dedication, whose
unique and sometimes fiery personalities fit perfectly into this tale.
(yes Miss Manda, i mean you! *wink*)
Patricia made a good point in her post:
it's very rewarding to know that something you put your heart and soul
into is enjoyed by others.
well said, Patricia. very true words.
last but not least, thanks to all you people behind the scenes who
have made these awards possible throughout the years.

Very happy to have made it to the podium. Was in excellent company,
too! My grateful thanks to all who participated in the commenting, the
reading, the experience of the Awards 2007. My Thanks to Mary Stark
who edited "Zoltan" for me. This lady is absolutely worth her weight
in gold!
For Alan Heah... once again, thank you so much for being such a great
and loyal reader to this newsgroup. I'm hoping to post a novel here in
parts and hoping you'll take up the challenge to read it. It's been a
great year for me in which I've rekindled my love for and interest in
TOS and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the TOS stories and commenting on
them.

Wow! a pleasant surprise considering the little amount of time I put
into it. I would like to thank Starshadow for her technical advice on
my other story.

I was glad to help. I've been a tad busy working on a novel with my
partner-in-crime, so haven't done much else for months, so it was a
great surprise to win the catagory I did, too.
You did good, Mule. You deserve it.
