View Full Version : Alia
Discussion Question: Why was Alia some determined to take large doses of
Spice to produce prescient visions? Was she trying to compete with Paul,
was she trying to define her own identity, or was there another reason?

I vaguely recall something about the Dune Tarot muddying the visions
and blocking too much foresight. She may have been chasing the dragon,
as it were, to break through it.

I think it was Mohiam that was having her visions muddied. Although,
IIRC, it wasn't just her personally that was being effected. I should do
a reread.

I think it is time I do a re-read as well, after I am done with my current read.
Currently I am reading Elizabeth and Mary (Cousins, Rivals Queens) by Jane Dunn.

Pretty good? I like reading historical novels, especially the tales of
royal court intrigues....

The information is mostly a rehash of known facts about both, however, its
telling is quite fascinating in that both bios are told as events transpired and
it is very interesting to see how the two queens reacted quite differently to the
same events.

T: I mean, everyone realized the KH had to be a man, so what was she trying
to prove? There was no way her prescience could have been stronger than
his, was there?
