Ah, the old continuity question pops up again. Roddenberry (and later
Berman) was never particularly picky about the subject. World War III has
happened anywhere between the 1990s (Khan's time) and 2079 (as stated in
Farpoint). It wasn't until "First Contact" that they settled on a consistent
date. Other examples abound. Roddenberry initially said that Trek took place
"far enough in the future to have interstellar travel and close enough to us
that the characters are still identifiable."

Well if you are referring hust to the part with Colin Powell being
president form 2001-2009 I wrote some of this in 1996-1997 when that
still seemed a possibility. After his performance as Secretary of
State OTL I'm not so sure now-he still would have been better than
Dubya however.In the Star Trek ATL in envisioned him as a Eugenics War
hero hence his Eisenhower like victory in 2000.

I'd have liked to have seen Arnie in the list of presidents...LOL...But
