ashvor29 4th July 2008, 02:42 PM what is the point of this? the movie is infintely better than this i think.
Kevin 4th July 2008, 10:34 PM what is the point of this? the movie is infintely better than this i think. To make Lucas a ton of more money and to further move the Star Wars franchise towards the 'kids' market like he wants would be my guess.
Tim 5th July 2008, 09:07 AM A strange choice of CGI used there. Very dark imagery combined with exaggerated insectile joint movements in the humanoids. Sort of aimed at kids, but hopefully not too dark for them.
thetinyglobule 6th July 2008, 10:33 AM i wish he'd address the EU after return of the jedi. i've seen enough of the clone wars thanks, george. money again! how much does he need?
i really hope the reason that the clone wars was skirted over in the 3 prequels wasn't so he could make this. surely even lucas can't be that calculating.

I think I read they wanted the 3D animation look a lot like the comics, that's why it looks a little bit funny.
But dammit, as much of a Star Wars fan I might be, I am just so not a fan of 3D animation. I am even thinking about NOT going to the movies for this one. Bleh.
thetinyglobule 6th August 2008, 09:44 AM as this gets nearer to release i find my interest waning more every day. i just have a bad feeling about it...
skwirlinator 6th August 2008, 09:52 AM The more I find out about this film, The less I want to see it.
Kevin 6th August 2008, 11:13 AM The more I find out about this film, The less I want to see it.What kills me is that some of the commercials are playing up the angle of Anakin Skywalker having his own padawan (apprentice) who is a teenage girl and I can't help but think...
When the events of Episode III take place, does he kill her also?
I know that dark question will be on my mind every time I watch a Clone Wars episode.

Kevin 15th August 2008, 09:39 AM wbdigi, welcome to Cool Sci-Fi! :welcome:
I think I read they wanted the 3D animation look a lot like the comics, that's why it looks a little bit funny. There is definitely an anime influence to them, something that a lot of North American viewers may not be used to.
I have no discourse with the material visually, it is the story lines that are a bit dodgy (eg: Anakin has a 14~ year-old padawan who ends up caring for the infant son of Jaba the Hutt? Umm.....).
skwirlinator 15th August 2008, 07:41 PM Yoda Breakdancing Video (http://www.dailymotion.com/channel/fun/video/x2srxu_yoda-breakdance_fun)
recall 15th August 2008, 07:48 PM I don't think I'll be able to handle the PC/Cartoon version of the missing episode.
I'm thinking "Gaps" stuffed with balderdash?
Too much in too insignificant an arena. Cheapens it, as well it should/is.
Tough for me to get behind/involved.
I've been wrong before.
Let us know (those who see it) if my/our interpretations are founded.
Mojo 18th August 2008, 07:04 AM Well, my kids want to see it, so I'll end up watching it at some point soon...
Good news for those who are looking for Lucas to fall flat on his face: the movie made only $15 million domestically over the weekend, putting it in third place behind The Dark Knight... which coincidentally just topped Star Wars for second-highest gross of all time (not adjusted for inflation.)
Mojo 24th August 2008, 05:00 PM So I saw Clone Wars, and it was... blah. Kind of boring. Somewhat stupid. Mindless and unworthy of the Star Wars moniker.
I'd honestly say that the Ewoks movies were better and more representative of the overall quality of the series.
:(

With the CG-animated Star Wars: Clone Wars set to premiere on Cartoon Network this Friday, Warner Bros. is ramping up its publicity effort.
The feature film (http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/08/clone-wars-revi.html) that previewed the series will arrive Blu-ray DVD (http://www.hd-report.com/2008/09/26/star-wars-clone-wars-blu-ray-announced/) on Nov. 11.
Meanwhile, a set of promotional photos (http://losangeles.metromix.com/tv/photogallery/star-wars-the-clone/634614/content?photo=1) (such as the harsh glare from General Grievous above) hit the web teasing the series that promises to unveil what a lot of Star Wars fans always thought would be the coolest chapter in the saga since Mark Hamill first mentioned the Clone Wars in A New Hope.

7HEUSEDB3RTH 4th October 2008, 10:53 PM I saw it last night and it was not too bad! I think Yoda was a little overdone and the droids were too comic, but I was surprised at the actual showing of cold blooded murder! The second episode was way better, anyone else see it?
Kevin 17th October 2008, 10:09 PM It is no secret that Lucas modeled the original Star Wars trilogy (now considered the second trilogy, movies 4-6)) he used a number of influences, everything from Kurosawa to WWII aerial dogfights over England between the RAF & the Luftwaffe.
I noticed with the new animated series that Lucas is taking it one step further by directly modeling the series after the old Saturday Matinee serials from the 1930's & 40's. From the voice over descriptions at the beginning of each episode to the upcoming previews, everything between could have come straight out of the old Flash Gordon shorts.
It is also an oddity having the show airing at 9:00 PM, an hour not usually known for 'kids' fare, with some of the subject certainly not meant for kids but the comic relief provided by the Empire droids is purely juvenile at best. Last weeks episode was based around the planned genocide of 30,000 injured Republic soldiers and yet we keep seeing scenes of the droids that seem more fit for the old Star Wars: Droids animated series from the mid-80's than for a modern mature series.
I would have preferred that Lucas either split the series into two shows, one intended for kids and the other for adults, or to have at least made one show with a clearly defined audience rather than trying to make a jack-of-all-trades efforts.
