Liter Jon was a minor character in Dune. Can't recall if he was in any of the other novels. His mistress, Opaque Wind Trap, and their child, Precipitated Dew, were in an offshoot fanfic. Sweet Pundi Rice, Thufir's main squeeze, was mentioned later in HoD when, mysteriously, Miles Teg's Father tries to use her as a bargaining chip to get the Tleilaxu to reveal themselves.... Then in Children o" Dune, his is a distinct character. We next see him in GEoD, and although the familial ties are what makes the story, he is so "changed", it's almost like he is an entirely new character. Any reference to him pre-worm is like shadowy whisperings, except where he longs for what he was. On that level alone, he is such a tragic character. Don't you start with me! :) Obviously, he is a special case. And, I consider him to be four distinct characters... 1) The Original circa Dune 2) The First Ghola - Hayt/Recovered Memory Duncan 3) The Duncan that we see killed by Leto in GEOD 4) Ultimate Duncan -Siona's Mate Now don't start on me about ALL the other Duncan's, one at least that was a woman. They are ancillary, and we are basically told of them. We don't "experience" them. Forgot about Duncan circa HoD/Ch:D. If you're waiting for me to include the horrid prequels, you'll be waitin' a loooonnnnggggg time....
