View Full Version : The Promethius
NJ Esperantist 06-21-2008, 07:50 PM Can anyone tell me who, which flesh and blood human being, designed
the promethius and her descendants? To be clear, I'm not looking for
the name of the fictional designer of the ship(s).
Thanks,
Dave

SAC 441 06-22-2008, 01:03 AM Well,if you attempted to 'Google' it with the spelling you used with
your post title it may explain something of your difficulty. From my
experience,
internet search engines are very spelling and syntax
specific.
The proper spelling is PROMETHEUS.
The ancient semi-deity that supposedly brought fire to mankind and was
subsequently punished by the Gods of Olympus for it.I am not saying this
is your problem, but it could be.The ship in the series is spelled that
way too.

And you aren't going to find any 'wall sized' images. It's a moderate
quality Lightwave model. You aren't going to find anything better than
a HD screen capture.

Over the past few years the SG-1 production company has been selling off
their old props and costumes on the Legends Memorabilia website. In
addition to those items they are also selling a set of plans for the
Prometheus for about $40 Canadian.
They also at one time sold framed prints of the Prometheus, but I don't
remember if these prints were on screen props or replicas. However if
you keep checking www.stargateprops.com they might have the prints for
sale again in the future.

Probably.
I was already trying to think about the term 'WALL sized', and zoned out. If
you want a good quality image that big you would be in gigabyte territory.
Maybe even terabyte.

I /know/ you're not the OP and I'm sure Anim is also aware of that fact.
In your own response you totally left out the part of the OP.
Look how MountainFraimer and Andrew Venor responded. They left that part
intact.

Reply:
????? I don't understand why you are perturbed.
I just thought that you thought that I was the OP by some quirky fluke
of the internet is all.Usually, with my cheap MSN2 box I usually see a
succession of postings in a thread discussion until the final post
before a reply. All I saw was my quotation above your reply and I assumed
rightly or wrongly that both of you thought I had posted the original.
I did not mean to breed any antagonism or disrespect here.
If it is a misperception in my case,I humbly apologize.

I actually googled it with the correct spelling, just misspelled it
here. Still wondering who came up with the basic design.

It may have been a group effort so no one person can take credit. On
the dvds there are extra bits where they talk about the designs of
things, and how they came up with those ideas, and quite often it was
done by several people sitting around a table.

I'll review the DVD of the first ep featuring Prometheus then. I
actually like listening to the commentaries.

Actually it looks so bad that it would make sense it was designed by a
committee.

Exactly. It looks like a bunch of boxes stacked one atop the other. I
watched the commentary for 'Prometheus', but they only mentioned that
the sets were still under construction during the filming, nothing
about the exterior of the ship.
