I'm sad to say that I lost track of watching this in Season 2. :(

When did the cheerleader become a brunette?

Well, I missed off some text for the first picture that might have given you a clue. Notice how in the first picture there appear to be two Peters? The one in slicked back hair and leather jacket is similar in image to the black haired cheerleader if you think about it. It looks like their 'evil twins' from another dimension are going to be in the show. Or they are the result of a shapeshifter stealing their images to do evil.
