Exclamation The MOOG Guitar - The Future of Music

The Moog Guitar - Paul Vo Collector Edition
Every once in a while something comes along that keeps you up for nights at a time; permeating your mind like your first love. For many of us here at Moog, the Moog Guitar has generated a number of sleepless nights.

Many of you, great customers who have trusted us for years, may be wondering "Why a guitar?" I understand perfectly. From the outside it may not make sense, but trust us again when I say this is an instrument like no other.

FULL SUSTAIN MODE - like no other sustainer; infinite sustain on every string, at every fret position and at any volume. You may have heard sustain before but not with this power (we call it “Vo Power”) and clarity.

CONTROLLED SUSTAIN MODE - allows you to play sustained single or polyphonic lines without muting technique. The Moog Guitar sustains the notes you are playing while actively muting the strings you are not playing.

Ummm... really?

Question: what is it that you like about the Moog Guitar? Why are you mentioning it here? Do you own a Moog Guitar? What kind of conversation would you like to have about Moog guitars???

(I'm all in favor of there being lots more posting at coolscifi.com... but I think we're going to get there with quality vs. quantity, IMO. Give us some line of conversation to follow.)

Well, for one, with infinate sustain I think that there will be a significat change in the construction of music in the future. Imagine if Hendricks had infinate sustain.

Often in movies the director tries to introduce a new music style into the movie to give it a future sound. This is real future coming alive. The abilities of this guitar are so out there I think anyone with any musical intrest could play whatever they want.

I wish I had one!

I posted this in this forum because it is new technology/gadget that has become available. I thoght it would appeal to the futurist in scifi types like me.

Well then, excellent! That's what I wanted to know.

I know absolutely nothing about electric guitars, short of what I learned by going to Seattle and walking through the Experience Music Project. So if you can elucidate for me, please do:

What do you mean by "infinite sustain"? How would that improve the sound of the music? What would the "future sound" of these kind of guitars sound like, in your opinion?

I frankly have always hated when sci-fi movies try to create a "futuristic" type of music... it ends up just sounding fake and clunky, sort of like those "cars of the future":

Alas, I am at work, where they block all kind of content.

(One problem with posting extensive embedded media...)

I don't surf scifi at work.

Why would you discuss something without reference?

I haven not heard reference to a Moog guitar before. I take it for the musicians out there that getting their hands on one would be sort of like the computers geeks crowd (Kevin raises his hand) lusting after a 30" flat screen LCD for their personal desk?

I guess what really amazes me is that infinite sustain. The greats attempted it by cranking everything up as far as possible and using backfeed. Now it can be done string by string note by note.
If you watched the muted example you can see / hear that the guitar can make some truly unique sounds as well.
