The Asians Of AA

has this turned to be a conversation only between us? i wish more people would come in... hmmmm :Ponder: lets think of a topic....does everyone in your family have straight black thick hair? ^_^ i don't know why I'm asking this but my hair is more brown than black and more wavy than straight. Does anyone have that too?

Aww nothing Jennifer does is terrible. At least she knows terrible mandarin. Well what do you expect!? :nonono: And there's all those other languages... Hmm I didn't mean to sound mean if I did!

Anyone here watch a lot of Asian TV shows? Our relatives always send us a lot of TV shows on VCD. I'm really into Meteor Garden at the moment...

*UGH* meteor garden, no I don't watch it, but I've heard of it....all those themes song parts of chinese soaps look so cool!...but I was watching Mars....and My Date with the Vampire 3...and Hero <---that last one cause the storyline was about spies ^^ i think everything's so dramatic tho....like overly so....are there any NOT like that? What language do you watch it in?

i dont have straight hair! it's wavy too...and sometimes there's random simmerings of brown...mostly when there's sunlight on it...

as for the asian tv shows...i dont watch any of those...I used to! when i was reallly little...my parents had all these videos for soap operas...and I used to watch it with them. But now that's kinda stopped...so I don't tend to watch those anymore...

i have the straight black asian hair that stands on up and it is so hard to flatten and style. I have cousins that have the wavy hair, and I only know one asian with the natural brown hair (the rest of the ones I know dye their hair).

asian tv shows....my grand parents watch them, but I don't watch them, use to, but not anymore. sometimes I'll watch the news, but they speak to fast for me so I only get bits and pieces of it.

yeah they are REALLY dramatic at times. for chinese tv shows i think only one person writes the story book, and then they film it and then they air it. so it can be somewhat weak. and i watch them in mandarin.

yay! i don't feel lonely anymore!

i still watch the chinese news cause it's on during dinner. but it's hard to understand cause they speak so formally, you know? it's like they don't talk in everyday conversation talk...wait..is it like that for regular news..

Welcome back! Wait I can't welcome you back, I don't live in france. I wanna go there some time though!

My hair is straight and black... suprised?

Ooh I remember this one show I watched with my parents. There was this girl that got kidnapped, and when htey found her, her tongue got cut off? Hmm other stuff happened. So long ago.

I don't really like most of the shows, most of them are like about kings and queens... and htey have on that hat with the ears. :P

Ahh, *tries to keep thread alive*

Ok, so I just read (well someone read it to me a week ago) that vietnamese immigrants have a risk of cervical cancer five times higher than white women! That's pretty high! Good thing I'm not a immigrant, but I remembered lots of vietnamese/french people! Hmm I wonder if you guys are immigrants... if not, tell your mommy! And then my post-it note says something about Suc Khoe La Vang... I know what "Khoe" is but "Vang"... hmmm

*tries to keep the thread alive too*

i'm not vietnamese... but i'm an immigrant. I came here, when i was 2 so for me, it's like i was born here...
anyway, why vietnamese immigrants have a risk of cervical cancer higher than white women?

I have no idea. I just read it some where. Actually, my co-worker read and told me to go tell all my friends. Then he gave me a post-it note, and I put it on my shirt. And now it's on my table. It's lost the stickyness.

I want thick hair. Well maybe not too thick. Everyone in my family has really different hair. Your typical thick, dark, straight hair, curls, and everything in between. I always wanted curls. I want my aunt's curls. Perfect curly q's. My mother has a 'fro. Nawww...I'm just kidding. It was amusing when I looked at her old pictures, when she decided to get it permed. I have straight, fine, dark brown hair, that really fades out in the sun. My mother still tries to figure out the origins of my not so asian hair--she was on dialysis, so who knows.

Add me to the list!

Bad soaps from Singapore. Oy. I think I watch to many of those when I visit my relatives. (Not very often, so I guess it's okay) They are sooo horrible and pointless, and it's rather amusing that several of the same actors and actresses are in several soaps. Pretty bad acting if I can say so myself--or maybe asian people are are that animated and I didn't consciously notice it. Entirely addicting though...it's a love/hate relationship.

oy.
my mommy said if you have thick hair, then when you get older, it'll only turn white but if you have thin hair, it'll fall out  what if I have a mixture of both?? it's gonna fall out in some spots and turn white in others!! that doesnt sound very... (n)

Oh ok so I'm gonna get white hair! Apparently, my hair's really thick. Hmm the white hair can match my dandruff. Then people won't be able to see it so easily.

I guess that's true, my dad's side of the family is losing their hair, but my mom's side is mixed so it's hard to tell. i have a tonne of hair, that feels thick just cause there's a lot but it's really thin  . Which means i am gonna get bald, great (n) just as long as it isn't like my dads hair I will be fine (he's got the parted hair with the thinning section on the top of his head so it looks like a comb over).

has anyone heard about ears? if they are huge it means you will have a long life and if they are short you would have a short life.

oh and now i know two people with natural brown hair :P :D
